A beautiful evergreen with a short trunk and a lovely array of narrow, stiff leaves. It is draught tolerant so is ideal for borders and coastal locations.
The leaves are very long and narrow, up to 1 metre (3 feet) long and greyish-green. Their apex is fibrous and the margins are finely jagged and have yellowish curved prickles.
The flowers are 30 - 40 centimetres (12 - 15 inches) tall, although sometimes they can reach 1 metre (3 feet).
The fruits are almost globose capsules, about 0.7 centimetres (1 inch) in diameter.
Dasylirion serratifolium is a plant species in the family Asparagaceae, native to Mexico, although it is widely cultivated in other countries.
